Description

RWUAV Perf Calculator is a professional tool for the most significant Performance and Required Power calculation of Rotary Wing aircraft of any configuration and size: Multirotors or Conventional, Main rotor and Tail rotor, architectures.
Based on a sophisticated Energy Method, including corrections for compressibility and rotor stall phenomena, it allows to predict the power required to fly, as a function of weight and speed, for a defined altitude and temperature combination.
At the same time, based on the available power, the most important performance are predicted:
- Maximum Weight to hover at the defined altitude and temperature
- Maximum Speed at the defined weight, altitude and temperature
- Minimum Power Consumption Speed for Max Endurance (Vbe) a the given weight, temperature and altitude
- Maximum Rate of Climb at given weight, altitude and temperature
- Max Hover altitude at th egiven weight and temperature
Available power calculation module comes with generic math models for Turbine, Piston or Electrical engines; a simple extrapolation formula allows to adapt the delivered power to the external conditions of altitude and temperature.
A sophisticated physical model for the Main Rotor(s) drag coefficient is provided, to correctly predict the Profile Power as a function of speed and atmospheric conditions.
Drag of the fuselage can be made function of the Forward Flight speed, when data are available, to improve forward flight performance calculation.
The most important iteractional aerodynamic phenomena can be easily modeled as a function of speed, like:
- Effects of Main Rotor wake on fuselage (Down Load)
- Effects of Fin on Tail rotor (Blockage Factor)
- Rotors Thrust generation efficiency (Ki)
- Tip Loss for Main Rotor
- Complete equations for Induced Velocity calculation in all flight regimes
- Prediction of rotor average Lift Coefficient for more precise power evaluation
- Out or In Ground effect (OGE/IGE) calculations, with different models
Input data are saved at each run and Aircraft models are stored in commented text files for simple retrieving and possible editing.
Drop Down lists provide access with a single click to all the possible execution options, for a simple preparation of the analysis and of the input files.
Two complete example file are embedded in the code and can be generated, retrieved and edited as baseline for other models.
Default values for the most important parameters are suggested for less expert Users.
