He was also called "Lebbeo," which means a man with a tender heart. Along with Simon the Canaanite, Judas Thaddeus was one of the apostles considered more Judaizing within the group of "the Twelve". According to the Gospel of John, he was a privileged witness of the Last Supper, during which he had an explicit active participation. The ecclesiastical tradition attributes to him the authorship of the epistle of Judas, point also debated by the biblistas.
Today, the Catholic tradition venerates him as the saint of difficult and desperate causes. Its festivity is celebrated in the Catholic liturgy on October 28, although it is popularly remembered on the 28th of each month.
