It was because of the establishment of Islamic Sovereignty in his time. Umar led the Muslims to replace Abu Bakr after the end of the Riddah War, and after the Muslim forces had to face the Persian and Roman forces on the borders of Iraq and Sham.
When Umar died, besides Iraq and Sham who had joined the Islamic Sovereignty, then it also included Persia and Egypt.

Thus the border has reached China in the east, Africa in the west, Caspian Sea in the north and Sudan in the south. The establishment of the great sovereignty in those ten years is certainly a miracle. This miracle was evident after the two great empires, the Roman Empire and the Persians who ruled at that time, bent their knees at the hands of the Arabs who for many years before had been hostile to one another, never calm and never lived peacefully.
