Story behind the app
I was filming for the BBC Private Life of Plants when a friend visited my garden. She said. "You have a beautiful garden. How do you know which plants will grow in your garden so you get a beautiful and colourful garden throughout the year? She said "I have a tree but don’t know what will grow under it. I have a garage and I’d like to climb plants up it, but I don’t know what to plants. I have lots of books but it takes too long to look through them and they often don’t have the information I want".
That gave me the seed of an idea to make and quick and easy to use, interactive plant database. I wanted to to allow people of all levels of experience to find the right plants to suit every condition of a garden to produce colour and interest throughout the year. I could take all the photographs but I needed Authors to write about the plants. I wanted authors with mud under their fingernails who would write about the plants with descriptions rather than just basic information which you get on labels.
I then needed to find programmers to make the plant database come to life. Plant database has been growing ever since.
App permissions

3 ★ its one of the better plant apps ive come across as far as orginization but its database is a little incomplete. Some of the entries are also not accurate in regaurds to if a plant is a perrinal or annual, at least for my zone. It feels like an app written by a tec person who didn't know much about plants but wanted a better way to quickly look up info at the garden center.
5 ★ I usually dont rate apps but this has everything I've been looking for in one!!! Excellent information easy to read. One thing I wish they had was the ability to design a garden plot and show companion plants. That would put this app over the top!!!
5 ★ The perfect app to save your plants and get info to learn about them. Great support from developers. Another thing that I like about the app is that is not a social media type of platform like most of the plant database apps.
3 ★ This app doesn't have a very big database--of ten fairly common Western US plants I searched for, it only returned ONE (and the shade and habit info were incorrect). Whole genera (Carex, for one) are omitted. It also appears to be optimized for the UK (measure only in metric; ref to RHS). Search options are rather limited (e.g., can't search by hardiness zone? Very basic/necessary). That said, it is well designed and offers a 15 day full trial that ends automatically: it won't bill you.
5 ★ I love this app! But I do wish it had more information on succulents. That could be user error however. :P I really hope more plant information is uploaded to this application! It's simply amazing.
3 ★ This app's database is incredibly lacking. I can't understand how you could call this a plant app and not at least include common house plants like pothos, sanseviera, dracena, alocasia and philodendron or herbs like cilantro and oregano! It seems like a well-designed app but it's useless to the average indoor gardener.
5 ★ Its excellent, I'm a horticulturist, this is my work. I find it very useful and very helpful. It allows you to add your own photos and a description. It has a extensive library of plants with pictures and information. Thank you.

2 ★ Almost none of my plants (which are all very common) were in the database, and you can't actually track them unless you pay for it. Might as well just charge to download the app so people don't have to waste their time

3 ★ No plant zone info or fruit chill hours for trees. I live in Phoenix AZ, would be nice to have a zone filter so I only see plants for my area. Feel like I just wasted money, unless you add zones.
