3 ★ The App works well enough, however it lacks actual news. In the local sections the same articles stay for days. Also there are too many video only stories that require viewing ads first.
2 ★ Very biased....don't trust all of it. Check out other news sources. Not bad. It's a pretty biased news organization. Hard to read the news on my Samsung S8+ though. I have to move the story from.left to right. Doesn't fit properly on my phone.
5 ★ I enjoy being able to personalize what I see instantly, and the ability to delve deeper with regions and sections like health and tech. The video play app is smooth and the link always works
4 ★ Good replacement for BBC app which stopped working for me. Text-based news are good, for videos it always plays ads and length is a bit much but understand that's how this app is funded. Overall this should be the go-to app for Canadians.
5 ★ As an American, I really appreciate being able to read Canadian news and the Canadian perspective of what's happening both in the U.S. & internationally. It's interesting to read & learn about what's happening in Canada & Canadian government, something that's sadly largely ignored by the American media. I believe CBC is a quality, unbiased media outlet, the app is pretty well-rounded and up-to-date. CBC checks all the boxes because it's core journalism is on what it knows best – Canada.
2 ★ Needs to be zoomable. If there's a photo, especially of text, I can't see it on my phone without being able to zoom the screen. Most allow this function but not CBC for some reason. Annoying.
2 ★ It gets a 2 star from me because of the ridiculously long advertisements they have when you TRY to watch a video. 5 or 10 seconds is acceptable, not 30 seconds.
5 ★ I use this app daily to keep me informed. The news is trustworthy and well written. I enjoy being able to easily toggle between top news stories and local news stories.
3 ★ The app works well enough but lacks the ability to read and post comments, book mark articles to read later and other similar features that are common to other news apps.
5 ★ Having access to reliable canadian and world news is beyond value. I appreciate their journalism and investigative reporting, particularly when I am out of the country.
2 ★ Decent for text.. but any videos you are forced to watch 1-2 ads on all of them. Just tried to watch 2 short clips of news and was slammed with 2 ads each.. i then clicked every video and yep forced to watch an ad on each and every one of them. Nope find another app if you want to watch any video news unleas you dont mind spending 30seconds to 2 minutes for 1:45.00 news clip
2 ★ In the last 5-6 years I've noticed a decline in the quality of journalism - too many individual pieces and not enough actual news. The app functions relatively well but the content is not great, unless you are Torontocentric.
1 ★ It's useless to watch videos. 30 second ads, sometimes more than one, and for what a 3m clip that I'm never going to watch? How does that support Canadian content when, I imagine, a large percentage of people just don't watch the videos because of this issue. Please support Canadian content and get rid of ads.
1 ★ Perhaps the most useless app I've ever seen. Poorly designed, no useful content. And Canada pays the CBC $1B per year in taxpayer funds?!? Latest version will not even install on my Chromecast 4k. What? Every other news app in the world works fine. What's up at the CBC?
5 ★ Beautiful app. Masterful journalism. So grateful for arms-length, not for profit, professional, diverse public broadcasting that serves Canadians and is the envy of world broadcasters despite its minuscule budget.
