It is my great pleasure to invite you to attend the 13th National Congress SBAN "The Science of Food and Nutrition: Innovations and Challenges", which will be held from 25 to 27 August 2015, the Rebouças Convention Center in São Paulo / SP .

The purpose of the event is to highlight issues that are at the frontier of knowledge and scientific and technological innovations in the field of Food and Nutrition. Prominent researchers in national and international scientific scene will be present not only to present recent advances and state of the art, but to create opportunities for discussion and shared interests.

Advances in Food and Nutrition area have given up by leaps and bounds. Information technology, computing resources, the unveiling of the human genome brought prospects hardly glimpsed in the last century, as the omics methodologies that forge concepts as exposômica and nutrioma. To this new view, add to the need to overcome unresolved problems or newly recognized.

In this issue, sustainability is one of the themes, along with the lessons learned from large epidemiological studies conducted in Brazil and worldwide. The methodological dilemmas that prevent the achievement of unequivocal evidence for the action of nutrition as a promoter of health; face the nutritional problems of food insecurity to obesity, are also prominent themes. The multiple disciplines that relate to this task: biochemistry, epidemiology, public health, genetics, economics, etc., will be present in symposia and seminars Event.

Our goal is to provide an environment rich in opportunities, through a combination of multiple activities: continuing education; Talk to the expert, forums, seminars and conferences. The 13th Congress of SBAN will provide professionals, researchers and future researchers with a unique opportunity to boost their training.

The venue for this edition was São Paulo, a vibrant metropolis, multifaceted. While that is the most important economic center of Brazil, is the capital of culture in Latin America, with a range of leisure, knowledge and unique entertainment.
