Description

LEGACY: The OpenMax API is deprecated, you need a 32 bit RPI OS and omxplayer installed to run it.

• Cast YouTube videos
• Cast media content from your android device
• Play local media files on your Raspberry Pi
• Play streams from playlists (m3u, pls) on your Raspberry Pi

Requirements:
You just need a Raspberry Pi with a running SSH-Server, the omxplayer and optional a little image viewer. I only tested it with Raspbian, but there is no reason why it shouldn't work on other distributions.

Features:
• Controllable via a seekbar
• Hardware volume buttons
• Support for multiple audio and subtitle (srt-format) streams

Usage:
• To cast YouTube videos to your Raspberry Pi just open the YouTube app and a video and choose "Share" → Raspicast.
• To play streams just copy a playlist (m3u or pls format) to your android device and open the list via the app, or play the streams manually from the actionbar.

4 ★ I would love to see it as android media player, so that I can use it to open media and forward it subsequently When sharing web link to the app, it doesn't forward it to the pi Also documentation doesn't mention custom commands and how do they work

4 ★ works well with youtube videos. Has some problems with YouTube streams. It would be nice if you could share videos from other platforms as well (using youtube-dl). Smartphone screen sharing could also be an interesting feature. In any case, good work.

4 ★ This used to be an excellent app for streaming video to a large flat screen TV, easily deserving 5 stars. I even dedicated a raspberry for this sole purpose and had no problems whatsoever - if staying with Stretch'. On 'Buster' the volume control doesn't work. Sadly, many YouTube videos are now impossible to stream with this app. I'm not sure why...?

4 ★ Great app, but it would be better if you added screen mirroring. Anyone who is having trouble casting pictures, you have to install some additional software on the raspberry pi. You have to install the omx image viewer, there is a link in the description.

4 ★ When, as I imagine many will know, using a Pi Zero with the intention of streaming videos, say from YouTube, is useless because of the Ram capacity on its board. However, using Raspicast to directly cast from the app on my phone to the pi zero connected to my 21inch tv it works, and has a crystal clear picture and no buffering issues or freezes so far - spectacular eh. So that is my use of this app. Nevertheless, one star is lacking from 5 because it would be nice to have a few more functions.

4 ★ All features work except YouTube casting, which works partially - plays all videos that have all latin title, but as soon as you try to play a video with non-latin characters (with diacritics, in cyrillic etc) or even quote symbol - it breaks. I hope this gets fixed soon. Other than that it is a great app!

3 ★ Works well for everything from YouTube, except music and songs. Music is the main reason I installed it, and they don't seem to stream. I tried other things, including peppa pig, and they worked. A fix would bring this to 5 stars, making it easily one of the best streaming tools for pi.

4 ★ Should mention that public keys need to be RSA or DSA and need to be stored in PEM format. Even better would be an error message in the App itself. Could only figure it out using adb and entering the name of the exception into Google.

5 ★ second best thing since the pi was launch. perfect when i have problems streaming via plex server

4 ★ Nice app. You can only control the volume if the app is open unlike cromacast. It would be nice to adjust the volume even during screen saver on. Maybe update this function in an update in the future.

5 ★ Works perfectly! Been using it for years, and it keeps working, regardlesd of Raspian and Android versions. Even got it working without issues on 64bit ubuntu for the Pi.

4 ★ The app works well for playing local videos. However I can't figure out how to use a srt subtitles file

5 ★ Idea and implementation are very good ,few YouTube videos are not playing ,please fix this issue .full screen view is super. If possible PlZ try to add whole android screen cast instaead of casting files, like Google Chrome cast

3 ★ Unless I'm missing something, you must reconfigure every time you want to connect to a new receiver. I plan to have at least 2, probably 3. Do I have to clone the app to connect to another receiver?

3 ★ Unfortunatly it did not work for me. However a very good idear hop that bugs are ironedout.
