Description
In this unprecedented political climate, Fairey’s message has changed from hope to purpose: “DAMAGED is an honest diagnosis, but diagnosis is the first step to recognising and solving problems. "I definitely think that art can be part of the solution because it can inspire people to look at an issue they might otherwise ignore or reject.”
DAMAGED also takes aim at another hindrance to reformative communication: social media. For what should be the most meaningful platform for important discussion ever created, discourse has fallen secondary to self-indulgence and celebrity:
“Even prior to the election, I’ve been troubled by the social media mentality of ‘construct your own reality’ in superficial terms, at least. The internet and social media are valuable for democratization, but as Marshall McLuhan warned with his—”the medium is the message”—the rapid pace and temporary nature of social media can lead to throwaway approaches from the consumer and the creator…”

The optional Augmented Reality feature of the app involves image analysis, which requires a clear image. The AR quality is reduced when the camera can’t see details, such as when the camera is pointed at a blank wall, or when the room is too dark. Excessive motion reduces tracking quality as well.
Use the AR feature in a well lit room and move your device gently to improve tracking quality.

5 ★ I received a gearVR as a gift a few months ago. Never really made use of it until now. I'm in complete awe, as the app has exceeded my expectations. Of course being at the show in person would be preferable, but for those who live on the opposite end of the coast or world, one can't complain, but appreciate the experience this app can offer it's fans. Hope to experience a kaws show in VR sooner than later! (Hinthint)
4 ★ Just can't say enough about how generous it is to present Shepard's Damaged collection in such a high quality app. Having him speak on each piece is enlightening and inspiring. I am savoring my way through the collection at a slow and measured pace, returning to view something new especially during moments when mind chatter about COVID is creeping up on me. One small technical frustration is the app will get stuck in place and then I have to completely shut it down and start over.
5 ★ An original way for me to be able to visit that exhibition. Love to hear what Shepard had to say about each piece. More artist should use this to promote their art. I understand there must have been production fees to develop this, but it would have been nice if it was free. The more people who can and see and hear this the better it would be.
5 ★ I'm a highschool art educator and artist. This app rocks! It's fluid, relatable due to Shepards chat and so interesting! He describes formal conventions such as composition and colour choice along with symbolic use of subject matter and social/political context. Absolute gold. The only obstacle for me now is how to load it onto all of my art dept. Laptops... and how to sweet talk accounts administrators ;)
5 ★ Very impressed with the DAMAGED app! With not being able to see the show in person, with this app I can now and enjoy at my own pace. With the ability to go to each piece and get detailed info on each of them. And bonus content narrated by Shepard Fairey explaining various pieces in the show. Love it.
5 ★ This was beyond inspiring... I have been to a bunch of Fairey shows, but like many other fans, I missed this particular one as I am in Hawaii. This I feel is the perfect solution for people who for whatever reason can't make it to a show. I really enjoyed that is was very much like a VIP / Private showing or walk through with Fairey himself. I can see soo many possibilities and can only imagine other artists following suit and using this technology in the future to bring their own art to their fans. If you haven't downloaded it yet... go do it ITS BANG'n !! Still top notch Shep And great job VR't Ventures
5 ★ This app is amazing, it really feels as if I am within the exhibition and can fully navigate around all of the artwork. It is also great to hear a commentary by Shepard when you click onto each picture. He gives lots of details and a great insight into each carefully and lovingly made piece. My son is currently studying GCSE Art and he has been so impressed that he has told his teacher to download it to use in class. The app is easy to navigate and it compliments the art of Shepard very well.
5 ★ What an amazing app to be able to see Shepard Fairey's Damaged art show in full VR/AR retrospective! I was unable to attend the show but this is a great immersive experience to not only view but to also hear the artist's commentary, vision, and passionate insight of each piece of work. Truly a great new way to see an art gallery!
5 ★ Love the app. It's amazing to see so many pieces. Love the detail on each and the audio explanations. The only thing I wish it had was a work on or build your own piece where all the spray cans are. I thought you could design your own. Would be an epic addition and take the app to the next level.
5 ★ It's like a personal tour of Shepard Fairey's blockbuster 2017 show Damaged, with detailed explanation of all the major artworks in the exhibit by the artist. I waited in line opening night for a couple hours to get in to see this show, so this app is much easier experience, without the free beers and live punk band 😎 Would be nice bonus if they could add link to video from opening night as a bonus for app purchasers
5 ★ The awareness to all the issues Shepard always addresses always has me interested in the art and message he is trying to make aware. The app is fluid and smooth, absolutely love it. Continue going back and still seeing new things or reading up about a piece I didnt know the story behind. Just an amazing achievement to have such a thing.

5 ★ Having seen this show in person I wasnt sure what the virtual experience would offer that the gallery did not, but having Shepard talk about each piece really fleshes out the entire show. For anyone that didnt attend the show I would think this is the closest thing to being there one could experience.
5 ★ Having recently attended the Salad Days exhibit, but having been unable to see Damaged in person, this app gives me particular joy. The audio tour and expanse of the virtual exhibit are even better than expected. I hope to see more artists take this emerging opportunity to share their vision and perspectives. Well done, engaging app!
