"At the final stage of the mission of Bahá'u'lláh for the phenomenon of Him in the Kitab-i-Aqdas the fundamental laws of His Revelation was followed by the proclamation of certain precepts and principles that constitute the very essence of His Faith, as well as confirmation of the truths revealed to them earlier, refinement and clarification of certain laws, has He prescribed , the phenomenon of further prophecies and predosterezhёny and the establishment of the subsidiary laws which were supposed to supplement the provisions of His Most Holy Book. They were written in a variety of Tablets, which He continued to reveal until the last days of His earthly life ... These Tablets - tumultuous outpouring of His indefatigable pen, become and final - should take its place among the choicest fruits generated by his mind, and mark the end of his four decades of service " .1

The six included in this book Tablets referred to in the above paragraph, were, on the instructions of 'Abdu'l-Baha, translated into English and published in 1917 by the Baha'i Publishing Association in Chicago. This edition has long been a rarity, and now most of its content is known only by the Bahá'í quotations given in compilations or other writings. Moreover, as translations of sacred texts made by Shoghi Effendi, the increasing flow of expired from his pen, it became apparent that earlier one could easily improve both the accuracy and style. Therefore, the Universal House of Justice entrusted to publish this book, which he defines as another attempt to convey adequately in English incomparable sayings of Bahá'u'lláh. Where any part of the text has been translated Guardian, its translation is used.
