Description
With over 2,000 years of history, verdiales are one of the oldest cultural events in Spain. Verdiales are a musical, ethnological and anthropological manifestation that speaks of a land rich in traditions that has not renounced his past.
The chronicles tell us that verdiales are a dance fandango although some would even suggest that its appearance is prior to flamenco.
For several years, Malaga Provincial Government, municipalities in the province and cultural associations (which finally have joined national and regional institutions) have requested that UNESCO verdiales are considered intangible cultural heritage, just as what is flamenco.
The objective of this APP is to spread knowledge of verdiales, social spectacle, ritual and festive that is transmitted from generation to generation.
