Practising these Arban Slur Exercises is considered to be one of the most useful methods of developing endurance and flexibility.

However, even though this is known to be true, they can also be considered boring. Many find it difficult to maintain the discipline needed to practise them consistently and properly.

The tempo of Exs. 16 - 21 is is 60 Beats per minute. A tempo which builds endurance when playing the minims (half notes) and crotchets (quarter notes) and controlled flexibility as the notes get shorter and more of them!
